AccessBank Network in Africa Crosses the Threshold of EUR 100 million in Outstanding Loans

In September 2013, the aggregate outstanding loan portfolio of the AccessBank Network in Africa surpassed an important milestone of EUR 100 million. This outstanding result crowns nearly seven years of dedicated service of AccessBanks to African micro and small entrepreneurs.

Bernd Zattler, Vice-Chairman of the Supervisory Board of AccessHolding, commented on this success: “We are very proud to see the African AccessBank Network reaching this impressive development landmark, and we are happy that it has grown into the leading and one of the largest microfinance networks in the Sub-Saharan region. This remarkable growth has been broad-based across all countries of operation, and each of the African banks contributed its share. Our gratitude goes to over 2,600 staff and to hundreds of thousands of our customers in Africa. AccessHolding remains committed to improving financial services in Africa, in particular for micro enterprises and SMEs.”

Today the African Network of the AccessGroup comprises 6 banks, located in Madagascar (established in 2006), Tanzania (2007), Nigeria (2008), Liberia (2009), Zambia (2011) and Rwanda (will soon open doors). These banks currently operate through 55 branches, have more than 95 thousand active loans and service a total deposit portfolio of nearly EUR 91 million, spread over 470 thousand accounts and growing by several thousands every month.
